935mm Hatch Kit - Digital

This is a digital file only, so that you can print out your own hatch.

Whilst we provide coprehensive instructions, this hatch project does require some knowledge of fiberglassing and filleting techniques. It also requires some small additional harware items purchased, to complete the job.

We designed this hatch for our current Trimaran project. It has a large opening, being, 935mm (W) x 1240mm (L). The idea is to purchase either the 935mm or 735mm wide hatch end kits, and as many hatch profile rails as you need to suit the hatch length. There is also an option to buy an entire 935mm (W) x 940mm (L) kit which includes the alloy tube required. You will still need to purchase the 4mm ply or foam top cover. Ditto for the 735mm wide option.

Another example: If you were to use six of 300mm hatch profile rails, two 100mm extensions and one 735mm hatch end kit, your overall size would be 735mm wide x 1040mm long and the combined weight would be just over 1Kg before the glass layers and 4mm plywood top or cover.

Hatch profile rails come in lengths of 300mm, 200mm and 100mm, they can be mix and matched. This will allow you to set a custom length depending on your requirements. See hatch profile rails in the store.

We do provide comprehensive instructions on how to complete your hatch project and you will need to provide the following items on top of the 3D hatch cores. The full kit also contains the alloy tube required to finish the job.

• 4mm Marine plywood for top or cover, cut to your custom size.
• 15mm x 10mm alloy square tube to legth of hatch(Bunnings)
• 100mm Fibreglass tape 
• epoxy resin

On the underside of the hatch profile rails is a hole which is designed to receive a 20mm alloy tube. Same on the Cabin Top Hatch Profile. Four poles in position raises the hatch to the length of the pole and can be varied to suit.

If you purchase just the hatch end kit, there are two hatch ends in each kit. You will need to purchase your desired length of hatch profile rails to complete the job.

The hatch end kit includes both ends, front and back.  The entire hatch kits work out a bit cheaper but are fixed sizes. 935mm x 940mm and 735mm x 940mm.

Total Weight of 935mm Hatch Ends and Rail + Alloy Components complete = 1200 grams.

Total Weight of 935mm hatch when complete is around 2800 grams, depending on the amount of glass re-enforcement used.
